The Never-Ending Fight Between Childfree and Child Rearing

I had just put my two-and-a-half-year-old to bed when I plopped on the couch to begin my nightly ritual of scrolling. Usually, it consists of about 30 minutes to an hour of giggling at Reels and sending them to and from my husband and close friends. It’s a pocket of joy, my nightcap if you will. My time on social media is now mostly limited to comedy and the small, innovative ways people can make me belly laugh in 30 seconds.
But of course, as it does, the app served me something that I couldn’t help but pause on. An account dedicated to child-free content. Cut to me looking through her reels and posts, feeling the fire inside of jealousy, and–what else? I don’t know. She dedicated her entire influencer-brand account to content around how amazing it was not to be me.
I clicked through the comments on a clickbaity, inflammatory post. And as suspected, shots were being fired on all cylinders from parents and childfree folks with a matched defensive vitriol and misunderstanding.
